Martin Scorsese’s Casino is a masterful portrayal of greed, betrayal and destruction. This film has some truly hellacious violence, including a torture-by-vice sequence that ends with a popped eyeball and an incredibly edited and sound-designed baseball bat beating. Her performance is both a career highlight for Stone and a testament to Scorsese’s skill as a director. The rest of the cast is uniformly excellent as well.
